Have you ever attended a lecture or discussion where the mainspeaker drones on and on and you wonder if he's ever going toquit? And even if the material was interesting enough, it was toocomplicated to work out in your head? Yeah, we've probably allbeen there, which is why it's important to know how to make yourpublic speaking skills more effective. For me the phrase "visual aids" brings back wonderful memories of countless classrooms and teachers saying, "You will be graded down without the use of visual aids!" However, if you have the right ones, visual aids can really make your speaking more effective. The most common types of visual aids are graphs, sketches, maps, scale models, charts, pictures, posters, handouts, and sound orvideo clips. But the number most important visual aid is you.Your appearance, including your clothing, grooming, and facialexpressions, has the biggest impact on how the audience will react to your words. Consider this-- let's say you go listen to a business professional talk about how to maximize your financial success. When he takes his position behind the mic, he is wearing stained jeans and an old T-shirt, and looks like he hasn't shaved in days. You are probably not going to be very impressed with him from the start, and less inclined to take him seriously as someone with the authority to be giving you financial advice.
If you look enthusiastic about your topic, dress appropriately for the subject matter, and maintain an overall respectable appearance, you will have that much more of an advantage. Other types of visual aids are generally used to enforce ideas, give a clearer understanding of the material, and throw a little variety into the mix. When creating charts and graphs for your speech, you should take into account visibility from the audience. A twelve inch font is great for handouts, but not exactly practical if you're going to be showing it to a larger group. Estimate how far your audience will be from the microphone, and see if you get a clear view of the chart.
All visual aids should be relevant to the topic and pleasing to the eye. Aesthetics are extremely important, so your visual aids should be balanced with a nice color scheme. Above all don't forget to make them interesting. If you plan on using any sort of electrical equipment during your presentation, make sure you know how it works and that it is working properly. I will never forget one of my most embarrassing public speaking moments when I couldn't get the overhead projector to turn on.
This takes attention away from your topic, and makes it harder for you and your audience to get back on track. One thing that I always do before public speaking is check out the room or area in which I will be presenting. This helps me get more familiar with the surroundings and decide exactly how to proceed with my visual aids. I have found that I usually get less flustered when I am more comfortable with the speaking area, and generally get a better response from the audience..
9 Simple tips to protect you and your things while moving
Adding to the excitement or nervousness of moving is the dilemma of packing. Mankind, being pack rats, tends to gather a lot of clutter over the years --things of use, of sentimental value, gifts, brick-a brack, and family heirlooms. Some are treasured while others tolerated. When the time comes to move there are hard and heartrending decisions to make.
Determine how much you are allowed to take with you.
Find out the floor space in your new home. Be practical and:
? Make a list of "must haves."
? Arrange to put all other things in storage or have an auction or garage sale.
? Put aside things you want to give to charity.
? Disconnect, clean, and repair appliances a week before packers arrive.
? Make arrangements to transport plants and pets or find new homes for them. Most packers will not transport plants and pets. You will need to take them by car, train, or plane to your new destination....

Sell Your Bu** Off
Sell Your Butt Off================================================ On a recent television show "Girls Behaving Badly" a bewildered
public was caught on tape staring at the backsides of 4 women who were "fighting back" at those men who allow their pants to fall below their butt and show the famous "dent".
These 4 women paraded their behinds (their end results) around the streets of New York City. These ladies bent over provacatively to pick up imaginary dimes from the sidewalk.
The ladies did a slow roll downward to get a newspaper from a machine.
Exposing their butt thonged cheeks was the main goal of the exercise.
The reaction from onlookers ranged from outrage( mostly ladies)to sly smiles of amusement, smirks, and quick furtive glances from the men.
Ninety-eight percent of the people who glanced, snickered, or made comments about these ladies' exposed butts lookedfor 20 seconds or more. Commercials on TV don't get this...

Getting Comfortable in Your Own Skin
What does it mean to be comfortable in your own skin? It's about expressing yourself in a way they feels the most appropriate. When we think about expressing ourselves, we automatically think of the superficial ways. How we dress. The way we wear our hair. The car we drive.
If you wear jeans and a T-shirt one day and a business suit the next, what is it expressing about you? Is it that you are sophisticated one day and unsophisticated the next? Actually, your outer appearance expresses very little about who you truly are. Instead, when we talk about expression, we should look at what's harder to change about ourselves. Our habits. The words we use. How we treat people.
And, most importantly, how we express our spiritual gifts.Ah, spiritual gifts. That elusive term. It's also known as your calling. But how do you express those properly? We could each have similar gifts, but decide to express them differently. For example, let's say that 3 women are trying to figure out the...
